Description

Kalevala Koru was founded in 1937, when Elsa Heporauta and a group of socially active women wanted to bring the beauty of our foremothers’ jewelry within reach of the modern women of their time. Replicas and adaptations of ancient jewelry received an enthusiastic response and quickly became highly popular. Kalevala Koru was established as a tribute to the Finnish Kalevala woman.
To this day, Kalevala Koru is owned by Kalevalaisten Naisten Liitto (the Kalevala Women’s Union), which supports and promotes Finnish cultural work. All Kalevala Koru jewelry is handmade in Finland.

The design of this silver Kiviaarteisto ring is based on a filigree ring from the 11th century, discovered in Kekomäki, Kaukola. This ring model has been in production in the 1990s. It is a perfect example of how Kalevala Koru has brought Finnish Iron Age design into contemporary jewelry fashion.
