Kalevala Koru was founded in 1937, when Elsa Heporauta and a group of socially active women wanted to bring the beauty of our foremothers’ jewelry within reach of the modern women of their time. Replicas and adaptations of ancient jewelry received an enthusiastic response and quickly became highly popular. Kalevala Koru was established as a tribute to the Finnish Kalevala woman.
To this day, Kalevala Koru is owned by Kalevalaisten Naisten Liitto (the Kalevala Women’s Union), which supports and promotes Finnish cultural work. All Kalevala Koru jewelry is handmade in Finland.
A child’s jewelry is a wonderful way to convey the joy of the birth of a child. In both barrel-shaped Child jewelry fittings, there is one blue zircon. The Child jewelry fittings are on a silver mesh chain.
The child jewelry was modeled after a small barrel-shaped fitting, which is part of the jewelry of the Ancient Karelian costume, made based on Iron Age finds.
