Description
Elis Kauppi (1921-2004) was a Finnish jewelry designer. He was one of the founders of Kupittaan Kulta Oy, a Turku-based goldsmith’s company established in 1945, where he served as its long-standing artistic director and jewelry designer until 1988. Elis Kauppi was one of the pioneers of modern Finnish jewelry design. The jewellery he designed was quite minimalist in form, yet original and elegant. Kauppi’s jewellery has also been featured in numerous international arts and crafts exhibitions and museums around the world. His jewelry has become internationally sought-after among collectors of jewelry art. Kauppi was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1969.
This beautiful pendant necklace, produced in 1964, is made of 813 silver. The pendant features a precious tiger’s eye stone. The stone has the characteristic natural banding and shades of brown.
Observations: The silver shows minor signs of wear and tarnish.
