Description
Erik Granit (1930-1988) was a talented Finnish metalsmith. Erik Granit’s metalsmithing workshop, E. Granit & Co., was founded in 1954 in Helsinki, Finland. He was only 24 at the time. However, it wasn’t until the 1960s that his modernist designs were more widely recognized. Granit mainly worked with sterling silver. His jewelry is bold, with extreme attention to detail, while being very nicely balanced. The stones Granit used in his jewelry designs were often native to Finland, for example amethyst and faceted quartz. Many pieces made of silver with no stone embellishments were also produced in his workshop. The majority of the jewelry was designed by Granit, but the company also used other designers. The workshop was closed after Erik Granit’s death in 1988.
The bracelet is in very good condition for its age.
