Description
Taisto Kaasinen was a Finnish ceramic artist and designer. Kaasinen worked as a designer at the Arabia porcelain factory in Helsinki from 1947 to 1952. He moved to Sweden in 1953, where he worked as a designer at the Swedish Upsala Ekeby factory and also worked as a designer at Rörstrand. In 1962, Kaasinen returned to Finland and Arabia, where he worked in Arabia’s art department from 1963 to 1974. Although Kaasinen is best known for his animal figures, he also created an extensive series of wall reliefs for passenger ships traveling between Sweden and Finland, icebreakers, and the walls of numerous residential and commercial buildings.
