Description

Kimmo Virkkunen won Kalevala Koru Oy’s jewelry design competition in 1983 with his Töyri pendant. The competition was organized for students of the goldsmithing school at the Lahti Institute of Arts and Crafts, and its aim was to generate ideas for high-quality youth jewelry suitable for mass production. Production of the pendant began in 1984. Kalevala Koru discontinued its manufacture in 1989, after which Virkkunen continued producing the design through his own company, Au Kimmox Oy.

The Töyri collection is crafted in either gold, silver, or bronze, combining the brilliance of ceramic colors or the beauty of Finnish stone with the metal.

The chain of this Töyri fortune bird is made of 925 sterling silver. The pendant is crafted from 925 sterling silver and features a blue ceramic bead.

Observations: The pendant shows minor signs of wear and tarnish of the silver. The glaze of the ceramic bead has an age-related patina.
