Description

Kaj Franck is one of the most internationally renowned Finnish ceramic and glass designer. Franck designed for Arabia, Artek, Iittala and Nuutajärvi. He served as the artistic director of the Nuutajärvi glassworks from 1950 to 1973.
During his career, Franck won many design competitions and recognitions, including at the Milan Triennial in 1951 and 1954, the Grand Prix of the Milan Triennial in 1957, the Compasso d’Oro award, the Prince Eugen Medal, and the Lunning Prize. He received the Pro Finlandia medal in 1957.

Franck designed Ateenan Aamu – glass artwork after a trip to Greece, whose name refers to Greek church bells. When the wind or a passing air current sets the glass pieces in motion, they produce a soft, metallic sound — like church bells ringing on a Sunday morning in Athens.
The Ateenan aamu (“Morning in Athens”) -collection consists of free-blown glass pieces that can be suspended in front of a window, beside a fireplace, or arranged as a glass curtain — individually or in a freely composed grouping.

There are altogether two (2) parts, which are in very good condition for their age.
