Description
Greta-Lisa Jäderholm-Snellman (1894-1973) was a Finnish ceramic artist, glass artist, and designer, best known for her work at Arabia from 1921 to 1937, although she also pursued a career as an independent artist from the 1920s onwards. Central European influences can be seen in Jäderholm-Snellman’s ceramic production, which was characterized by experimentation with various glazes and painting techniques that she had encountered in France at the Atelier de Lachenal and the Sèvres manufactory.
She had already begun working with glass in the 1930s, having worked at the Riihimäen Lasi Oy and Oy Ahlström Ab Iittala glassworks. However, in connection with the 1949 exhibition in Copenhagen, she was recognized as a glass designer.
