Description
Gerda Thesleff was a Finnish ceramic artist. Thesleff had a career spanning nearly thirty years as a ceramicist and was among Finland’s first studio potters. She treated the surfaces of her hand-thrown vessels like a canvas, painting various motifs on them with free brushstrokes. Many of the themes and colors were inspired by the travels of Gerda and her sister, the visual artist Ellen Thesleff, in Tuscany, Italy.
The ceramic wall plate is in very good condition for its age. Beautiful and rare piece!
