Description
Anitra Lucander (1918-2000) was a Finnish painter. Over the course of her 30-year career, Anitra Lucander created abstract paintings, figurative compositions and portraits, as well as large-scale collages and fabric appliqué works in which she continued to develop explorations of color and form. Anitra Lucander was the only woman among the early pioneers of Finnish abstract art. She is regarded as a refined modernist. In addition, Lucander collaborated with architects as a color designer for public buildings in Helsinki. She was awarded the Pro Finlandia Medal in 1969.
