Description
Wäinö Aaltonen was one of the most prominent Finnish sculptors of his time. From the mid-1920s to the late 1950s, he held an almost exclusive position in public sculpture. During that period, he was among the most significant sculptors not only in Finland but also in the Nordic countries. Aaltonen’s career spanned from 1915 to 1964. He worked with bronze and marble as well as materials such as wood and plaster. As a user of Finnish granite, he was a pioneer.
Good condition for its age.
