Description
Kaj Franck is one of the most internationally renowned Finnish ceramic and glass designer. Franck designed for Arabia, Artek, Iittala and Nuutajärvi. He served as the artistic director of the Nuutajärvi glassworks from 1950 to 1973.
During his career, Franck won many design competitions and recognitions, including at the Milan Triennial in 1951 and 1954, the Grand Prix of the Milan Triennial in 1957, the Compasso d’Oro award, the Prince Eugen Medal, and the Lunning Prize. He received the Pro Finlandia medal in 1957.
The 1609 pitcher and stackable 2744 Kimara glasses are in good condition for their age.
Observations: Air bubbles occurs in the glass mass. The pitcher has a tiny edge defect and some scratching on the side and bottom. The glasses have slight age-related wear on the bodies and on the bottoms. The dark blue glass has a tiny top edge defect.
