Description

Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg was an Austrian-born ceramicist who moved to Finland in 1919. She is remembered especially as the developer of rice porcelain, but alongside it she had a diverse range of other works. She worked at Arabia from 1924 to 1971, including two years as head of the art department. Her first solo exhibition was held in Helsinki in 1953.

The rice porcelain manufacturing method developed by Friedl Holzer-Kjellberg began in Arabia with unique pieces in the early 1940s and continued, from the late 1940s until 1974, as the production of the rice porcelain department.

This ceramics bowl is most likely unique. The bowl is in very good condition for its age.
Observation: There is some age-related wear and patina on the glaze.
